With the use of Yoga Tune-Up® and Roll Model® Therapy balls, we locate trigger/tender points and restrictions, and then use self-massage techniques to release fascia and other connective tissues to relieve pain, increase range of motion, and improve mobility. This fun and invigorating class will show you how to incorporate self-massage into your toolbox of self-care techniques. Us this class in between visits to your favorite professional massage therapist.

Tuesday 5:15-6:15pm

Yin is a floor based practice that gently stimulates, strengthens, and restores the fascia and dense connective tissues in and around the joints and muscles.

If you have a relatively inactive lifestyle, Yin is a great way to reintroduce your body to movement, improve flexibility, hydrate deep tissues, and promote and improve joint health as well as body and breath awareness. There is no experience necessary to do yin, and you don’t even have to be flexible to participate.

Yin also has a mindfulness component, challenging us to find peace in what may be slightly uncomfortable positions as we allow time and gravity to let the emphasis of the stress activate change at the deepest level.

Wednesday 5:15-6:15pm

Guest Instructor, Kristin Heyrman, PT, DPT, RYT-200 says, “A healthy pelvic floor is the foundation of body movement and stability. When the pelvic floor is strong and balanced, it helps to keep the abdominal and pelvic organs healthy.  However, pelvic floor dysfunction is incredibly common with a wide range of symptoms from incontinence to feelings of instability and weakness, to pain in the pelvis, low back, and hips.”

This class is for anyone experiencing these symptoms, or for anyone who wants to gain a greater understanding and awareness of their pelvic floor.  Our focus will be on strengthening, stabilizing, stretching, and softening the pelvic floor, along with postures to open the hips and strengthen the core. We’ll learn how to integrate the pelvic floor into standing and balance poses to strengthen your foundation for your yoga practice and also your daily life.

Thursday 5:15-6:15pm

Your lymphatic system is responsible for circulating lymph, the leftover fluids from nutrient delivery, back into the body. It maintains the fluid level in the body, absorbs fat from the digestive tract, removes germs and bacteria, and protects your body from foreign invaders. But the lymphatic system does not have its own pump; it requires muscle contraction to circulate the lymph. Closely tied to the immune system by the lymph nodes, it is important that these systems are working together, and this practice is perfect to restore balance between the two.

Guest Instructor, Amy Giesen, PT, offers this practice as a way to stimulate lymphatic flow with lots of twisting and deep breathing as a way to provide a general detoxification of the lymphatic system, stuff we all can use!!

Friday 5:15-6:15pm

Wrap up the busy week with this luxurious practice. This deeply relaxing practice will leave you feeling light and rejuvenated. We engage the “rest & digest” nervous system, let go of the day or week, and soothe ourselves with our most available inner resource, our breath! Yes, its that simple. No experience necessary to reap the immense benefits from this practice.

I come to you! Have a corporate wellness program and want to add yoga?  Is there a fitness challenge happening where you work?  If you have a physical place in which to practice and an interested group of co-workers, I will come to you.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra is a blissful practice that requires little physical movement and activity.  Props will support you while you lie still on your mat where you will be taken through a full Guided Body Scan, bringing awareness throughout your entire body.

There is nothing to do but sense and feel (and breathe of course!).  Guided by the teacher’s voice, you will identify sensations throughout your body and focus on your breath.

The most observable effect is the extremely deep relaxation of the nervous system by allowing your body to deeply rest and recharge – something usually lacking in our all too busy lifestyles.

No experience required – everyone can practice – even beginners!

Vinyasa II

Vinyasa I/II

A slightly faster paced practice based on Baron Baptiste Power Yoga.  We use Sun Salutations as a full-body warm-up to build heat and set the pace, breath, and flow of practice, bringing your focus further inward to ignite the healing heat inside.

This flowing type of yoga links movement and breath to attain balance in the mind and body.  From the Sanskrit “to place in a special way,” vinyasa aligns a deliberate sequence of poses with the breath to achieve a continuous flow.

Vinyasa I / Gentle Flow

Centering breath work, Sun Salutations, & Standing and Floor-based postures (asanas):  The Sun Salutations, or Surya Namaskara, are a series of poses performed in sequence to create a flow of movement meant to warm and loosen the body.

We take each joint through its full range of motion by mobilizing the muscles, and this gentle activation improves circulation of blood, energy (chi) and our vital substances.  We learn to coordinate our breath with movement, and to connect mind, body, and breath.

This practice is comprised of postures that are approachable for most bodies.  They are less intimidating than some of the more “advanced” postures while still being great for building strength, confidence, and body awareness.  When linked together in a flow (vinyasa) we increase our heart rate and get our energy flowing more freely.

Foundations of Yoga Beginner’s Class

Want to try yoga but feel intimidated about being in a class with more advanced practitioners? This beginner’s class is a great place to start your yoga journey.

Learn about breath work and how to use your breath to move through the sequence of poses called Sun Salutations.  We’ll also learn the Warrior poses which are approachable to most bodies.  We’ll practice mindfulness, and connecting breath with movement.

Learn to align, open and strengthen the body gradually while stabilizing the platforms of the feet and ankles, hips, pelvis and shoulder girdle. Class begins with general and targeted warm-up sequences followed by postures which are taught from their foundations using fundamental building blocks to enable students to explore the postures correctly, safely and to their own ability before bringing it all together into a Vinyasa, a breath-connected sequence.

Students are encouraged to relax and work at their own pace in a safe and non-competitive environment.
